Get Social Packing up all those christmas decorations can be a daunting task that I like to put off for as long as possible. This year I really needed to get everything packed up. Having christmas decorations everywhere can be very beautiful and cozy. However after awhile, it gets crowded and messy. So here it is day 3 after christmas... my decorations are in the shed, my tree is gone, well most of it. There is still plenty of christmas tree needles everywhere. For the most part everything has been re-arranged back to normal and it feels great. I wanted to share the methods I chose to keep my christmas decorations organized until next year. That's really the thing you should be focusing on. Will the way I packed this preserve my decoration until next christmas? Tip #1: Pack the christmas bulbs first! Pack them first because it's probably going to be the longest suckies task, so just get it done. I packed by bulbs in a blue tote in layers with leftover tissue paper. Also for extra padding, add the crunched up sticky bows that you never used on presents and such. Tip #2: I actually read this one on inspiringsavings.com and the article suggested going through the christmas decor left in your christmas boxes, or totes. If you didn't use those decorations this year, you probably won't next year. So pack up the old decorations for a yard sale next fall. Great idea! Tip #3: Christmas lights needs to be taken down and packed up in a way that they will not get tangled taking them back out next year. I chose to grab the bread ties I save in the junk drawer. I also ended up saving a ton of twistie ties off half the toys my daughter got this year. You could use zip ties too if you have them. Whatever you use just make sure to wrap the light strand up and twist tie up BOTH sides of the loop. I also packed the lights in their own bag and put them on the top of the same blue tote holding my christmas bulbs. Tip #4: Dispose of the christmas tree with help! Help from literally anyone you trust to be in your house. I'm not doing that shit by myself. Luckily I had my amazing boyfriend take out the tree for me. He even swept the needles up afterwards. Honestly I think he's cleaner than I am. Tip #5: Lastly, and possibly the most important. Pick a spot for all the new stuff you received for christmas. In my case desperately find a spot for all the new toys my daughter got. No matter what the case is with you, you need to find the place where each and every item is put away. Otherwise that item will always be laying around. I think the best tip overall for organizing items is using a tote, bag, or tupperware and pack with like items and then label. That’s It! That’s all I’ve got for you today. I hope everyone had an amazing holiday filled with love, joy, and good family.
