Get Social How do you live a balanced life? Start with the truly important things in your life. My suggestion is to remember the smallest things can be of the most importance. My overall goal here is to give you some tips on living that balanced life you desire. You know what my important daily life goal was today? No, you don't but I'll tell ya! To be apart of my daughter's imaginary world for a bit of time. We played fluffy bunnies and it was great! Sometimes the smallest quality memories make the biggest impact. We celebrated Easter today. Easter is a really fun, candy filled, ham slicing holiday for our family. With all the "fun" to plan for, It's easy to get swept up in the to-do list of pre-holiday crap. Yes, maybe it's not all crap. I know I have to Swiffer all my floors and clean those areas you just never got to. There's always a ton more that I am personally guilty of freaking out about. I'm sure everyone is guilty of freaking out over something unnecessarily, or just a little too much. A major holiday being the perfect example for almost everyone's mom. When I have those moments of overwhelming "to-do's" I try to take a step back. Look at the big picture, and ask yourself a couple of questions. Does this really matter in the whole scheme of things? Is this what I want to be spending my precious time on? Be in the present and ask yourself that. Try to make that evaluation on a regular basis. You'll start having a way clearer understanding of what's important in life. The key here is to understand what is important to Y.O.U. Doing that makes it easier to prioritize your day. I strongly suggest prioritizing whatever you've decided are the most important things in life for you. I find it most beneficial if I prioritize each day I actually need to get sh*t done! Don't go crazy over it, take your weekends and breaks freely. LET THE LIFE BALANCING COMMENCE Once you figure that out, you can let the life balancing commence! I think this site gives the absolute best metaphor on how you should perceive a balanced life. Here is a little clip of that metaphor, I like to explain balance to my clients by using the analogy of a bicycle wheel. The tire is your life and all the different areas of your life (such as career, relationships, spirituality, finances, education, physical activity…etc…) are the spokes. If one of those spokes comes loose or becomes compromised, it starts to have an effect on the whole wheel – throwing other spokes out of alignment, causing the wheel to wobble. It is a good way to visualize that our lives are not as compartmentalized as we think. We are holistic beings and every individual area of your life is connected to and affects all other areas. Learn more about the wheel of healthy and balanced living here. So by now, you may have an idea of what you are balancing in life and you're trying to keep that wheel smooth and round. The fact that you are here reading this and trying to be aware of your own life is proof in itself you're on the right track! Just work on the above habits before you delve into anything deeper, but here are a few quick tips to think about. QUICK TIPS
I try to do all of these things, but don't feel bad if you don't! I'm always trying and that is what counts. I would love to hear what day-to-day tips you may have to keep your life balanced. Get Social I try to keep my daughter's toys and crafts organized. Once I really organized all her craft and art supplies I found that she had a ton of extra crayons that did not fit in their container. At some point you have all the colors! You really don't need any more crayons. Every time I have extra of something I usually try to figure out a way to 'Upcycle' it. Upcycling, also known as creative reuse, is the process of transforming by-products, waste materials, useless, or unwanted products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value. Or do some kind of fun project, ya know :P In this project you can use up all the duplicate colors and even the broken crayons. This project is probably best to do without your child or with an older kid. The most helpful thing about making this can is it cleans out the art box! So preferably you'll want to have a hot glue gun and get that warmed up. If you don't I'm sure you could improvise with a glue stick. Find some kind of pretty ribbon you want to use as well and you'll use that to wrap around the can and crayons once finished. So first get your crayons all laid out. If you are super picky you can lay them out in a pretty pattern. I think it's fun to just place them at random. Get your can out, whatever can you want to use. Glue the crayons upright onto the outside of the can. As soon as all the crayons are glued all the way around the can use the ribbon. Tie the ribbon around the can and make a bow. This will also help to hold all the crayons in place. At this point let the crayons set for a while before moving it. The fun part is once this can is done you could use it to store the remainder of your crayons! I am also considering making a nice pastel colored crayon can for Easter. Maybe fill with some candy and art supplies? I would LOVE to hear any ideas you have :) |
